Vitamin D is crucial for infants, especially those who are breastfed, as it helps absorb calcium and phosphorus for strong bones and boosts the immune system. The Vitamin D AQ 400u/ml Infant Liquid is specifically designed to provide the recommended daily amount, aiding in bone development and preventing deficiency. However, it also comes with potential side effects, both urgent and non-urgent. Has anyone given this to their breastfed babies? What was your experience? How do you deal with the vitamin d drops taste which babies hate?

This is such a important topic, and I'm glad someone brought it up. I wish more parents talked about this stuff more openly. My baby has no problems with this. Have you tried adding the drops to a little bit of breast milk or formula to disguise the taste? This technique works well with other medicines too.

Vast majority of the time, side effects are mild, and the benefits outweigh the risks. Just monitor your baby closely and discuss any concerns with your pediatrician. If you want to avoid side effects, you can ask your doctor about different brands or formulations.

You know you're a parent when you've debated the pros and cons of baby vitamins that have potential side effects. I guess we just have to trust the doctors and hope for the best.

I think it's necessary. Breast milk alone might not provide enough vitamin D, especially if the mom isn't getting enough sunlight or supplementing her own vitamin D. Plus, it's liquid form is easy to administer, very affordable and tastes fine.

I give my baby Vitamin D drops because it is recommended by the American academy of pediatrics, the ADA and the world health organization. In the northern hemisphere, most people are deficient in vitamin D. The benefits outweigh the risks.

I'm on the fence about giving my baby this. The side effects list is a bit concerning. Has anyone else had any issues?

I know this isn't directly related, but I also give my baby a probiotic. They can also help with calcium absorption. I do not know if there is any evidence for this. Also, have you tried adding the vitamin d drops to your baby's bottle? It might make it a bit easier to administer.

I've been giving this to my breastfed baby for months now, and it's been great. No issues at all, and the pediatrician was happy with her bone development at the 6-month check-up.

I had a scare with my baby. She had a mild allergic reaction to it. We went to the ER, and they told us that it was a very rare side effect and we should switch to another brand. Just be aware that reactions can happen.

This is ridiculous. Why would anyone risk giving their baby something with so many side effects?
