Voraxaze (the brand name for glucarpidase) is an enzyme used to treat high levels of methotrexate in the blood. For those who aren't familiar, methotrexate is often used in chemotherapy and to treat severe autoimmune conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis. However, if too much methotrexate builds up in your system, it can cause severe side effects, some of which can be life-threatening. Fortunately, Voraxaze has been a game-changer. However, the infusion can also lead to some nasty side effects. I'm curious to hear if anyone else has undergone the Voraxaze treatment and what their experience was like. I've found very little information about side effects and management of this medication online.

I can't believe they don't warn doctors more about the extent and frequency of the side effects

I've seen Voraxaze used in the hospital setting for patients undergoing high-dose methotrexate chemotherapy. It's amazing how quickly it lowers methotrexate levels and reduces toxicity, but the side effects can be rough, as you mentioned.

I'm glad to see others having had the same experiences. I’ve always wondered why they didn't list the side effects more clearly on the packaging. Everyone should be informed.

It’s crucial to monitor patients closely after administering Voraxaze. The side effects can be intense and fast-acting, so having medical professionals nearby is essential.
