I've been taking Prevalite Powder Packets for a few weeks now to help lower my cholesterol, but I'm starting to worry about some possible side effects I've been experiencing. The medication seems to be working well, but I've been having some severe constipation. I read it can be a common side effect but if it becomes severe, I should go to the hospital. I'm also worried about the possibility of severe allergic reactions or unexplained bruising. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Are these side effects worth the benefits? What about the FDA reporting system for side effects? Do any of these side effects warrant a call to the FDA? Should I be more proactive and report it, or is this overreacting? Are there any natural alternatives to Cholestyramine?

I've been on this medication for a year, and I haven't had any side effects. I drink plenty of water and eat a high-fiber diet. I suppose I've just gotten lucky so far. I hope I don't have to be concerned about any side effects in the future. My cholesterol levels are down though, so I am not too worried about that.

I wish I had known about the constipation side effect before starting this medication. I've been struggling with it for weeks. I've been adding more fiber to my diet, but it's not helping. I'm going to have to ask my doctor about a stool softener or laxative.

I had a similar experience with constipation. I switched to a high-fiber diet and started using a stool softener. And I also increased my water intake. The constipation went away. But the problem was when I didn't increase my water intake I got constipated. I assume it worked because of the increased fluid intake.

Be careful, some of these side effects can be dangerous. I had severe stomach pain and had to go to the ER. Turns out it was a bad bowel problem. I called the FDA to report it too. If you experience any of these serious side effects, don't hesitate to seek medical help.

I've been on Prevalite for a few months, and I haven't had any side effects. I've been drinking plenty of water and eating a high-fiber diet to help with any possible constipation. I think it's working for me.
