I recently underwent a CT scan and was injected with Visipaque 320mg/ml. The procedure went smoothly, but I’ve been reading about possible side effects and I’m a bit worried. While the doctor assured me that severe side effects are rare, the list is quite concerning. Has anyone else experienced any of these side effects? What should we watch out for in the days following the procedure?

I’m not a doctor, but I think the feeling of warmth is pretty common, so maybe that’s normal. But if it hurts or you feel really dizzy, then definitely go to the ER.

That's scary! I had no idea it could cause such severe issues. I think I'll keep an eye out for any signs of thyroid problems too, just to be safe. Thanks for the heads-up!

My mom had the same procedure a couple of years ago, and she didn’t experience any issues. I remember the nurse told her to drink plenty of fluids the next day. Maybe that helps to flush it out faster..

I had a mild reaction to the dye when I had it for a CT scan. It was mainly just a feeling of warmth right after the injection, but it went away quickly. No big deal for me, but I guess everyone reacts differently.

My friend had a bad reaction to the dye, and it was pretty scary. They ended up in the hospital with wheezing and chest pain. It's not something to take lightly.

I have a question: Does anyone know if there are ways to minimize the risk of these severe side effects? Like, are there specific precautions or tests you can do beforehand?

I had a similar experience with Visipaque. The doctor did mention the side effects but assured me they were rare. I felt a bit of warmth and some irritation at the injection site, but nothing serious.

I am a nurse and I have seen a few patients experience severe reactions to contrast dyes like Visipaque. It's crucial to monitor for signs of an allergic reaction, like rash, hives, or difficulty breathing. If you notice any of these, go to the ER immediately.
