I've been prescribed Boniva 3mg/3ml Prefilled Syr Kit for my osteoporosis. I'm a bit worried about the potential side effects, especially the urgent ones like allergic reactions and low calcium levels. Has anyone else experienced these? How did you manage them? Are there any tips or tricks to mitigate these risks? I'm particularly concerned about the jawbone problems and tissue damage mentioned in the side effects list. Do these issues commonly occur in women taking Boniva?

I'm curious if anyone has switched from Boniva to a different osteoporosis med and how that went. Did you see any improvements or maybe different side effects? I'm considering my options and would love to hear some firsthand experiences!

I had a friend who complained about severe stomach pain after the first few injections. But she stuck to it. It got better on its own after a few months. She also took some antacids. I think those also helped.

I've been on Boniva for a couple of years now. The injections are pretty easy to manage, and I haven't experienced any severe side effects. Just a bit of flu-like symptoms and some muscle aches after the injection, but nothing too bad. My doctor told me to stay hydrated and take some ibuprofen for the aches, and it helped a lot. Plus, I make sure to take calcium supplements to keep my calcium levels up.

Seriously, if you experience any severe symptoms, go to the ER right away. My mom had a weird burning sensation at the injection site once, and it turned out to be a minor tissue damage issue. She was back to normal after a few days of rest and some topical cream. But good thing she didn't ignore it.

Does anyone know if there are alternatives to Boniva that might have fewer side effects? I'm not looking forward to dealing with flu-like symptoms every three months. Hopefully, there's something out there that's less harsh on the body. I plan on talking to my doctor about it, so any tips would be appreciated.

My doctor mentioned that you're more at risk for jawbone problems if you have cancer, dental problems, or blood clotting disorders. If that's not you, then you might be okay. But it's always good to stay on top of your dental checkups and be proactive.

I had no idea about the jawbone problems. That's pretty concerning. I mean, who wants to deal with that on top of osteoporosis? I've already asked my dentist, but maybe someone else has some advice.

I had a friend who took Boniva and had an allergic reaction. It was pretty scary—she had hives and trouble breathing. She ended up in the ER and couldn't continue with the medication. It's definitely something to be cautious about. Always have an EpiPen on hand if you have a history of allergies.

I thought the big risk with Boniva was the potential for tissue damage at the injection site, but I haven't felt anything unusual. My concern was more the flu-like symptoms and general aches. I've been taking my calcium and vitamin D supplements to counteract those, but it hasn't been a huge deal for me. The flu-like symptoms were just a few days bad, and then I was back to normal. Definitely easier than starting on a different medication.
