Last month, I had a CT scan with a contrast dye called Omnipaque 240mg/ml Inj 100ml. The nurse mentioned some potential side effects. I knew very little about this dye before the scan so wanted to learn more. My doctor said it was safe, but I was still a bit nervous. I have heard that it can cause severe allergic reactions and other serious side effects. Has anyone else had experience with this dye? What precautions should I take if I need to have another scan?

I had it once and I got really bad headaches afterwards. I wasn't sure if it was from the dye or the stress of the scan. I didn't have any other issues but a friend of mine had a bit of an allergic reaction. My suggestion is to always tell the staff about any allergies and take it easy after the scan if it is possible.

I had a similar experience as you with Omnipaque. My nurse mentioned the potential side effects too, and it was a bit scary. But the scan went smoothly, and I didn't have any issues. I think it's normal to be nervous, but it helped knowing what to expect. Just listen to the medical professionals.

I had a similar experience with Omnipaque. The injection site got red and swollen, but it went away after a few days. The radiologist mentioned it could happen if the dye leaked out of the vein, which was reassuring because I got some information I could understand at the time. Otherwise, I didn't have any other side effects. They gave me some anti-itch cream for the swelling.

I knew someone who had a seizure after an Omnipaque injection. It was really scary, and everyone in the waiting room was talking about it. I would recommend asking the doctor about the possibility of this and what to do in an event where it happens. It's better to be prepared.

I had an allergic reaction to Omnipaque, had a bunch of hives on my chest that spread to my face and arms. I had to rush to the ER and get steroids. Needless to say, it was scary. Always good to be careful.

You can't fix unknowns until you know. Listen to your body. If something feels wrong, go back to the doctor and get checked out.

I feel like the side effects are often overblown. I've had several scans with Omnipaque and never had issues. I would definitely still be cautious and listen to your doctor.
