I was prescribed Meropenem for a skin infection, and it was a lifesaver. I had some diarrhea and a bit of nausea, but it cleared up the infection completely. My doctor also gave me a steroid to help with the inflammation and to mitigate any side effects.
I've had a few side effects, but nothing too bad. Just some stomach upset and a bit of muscle pain at first. The antibiotic did its job though so I'm satisfied.
I was given Meropenem for a severe case of pneumonia, and it worked wonders. The infection cleared up quickly, but I did experience some pretty bad diarrhea. It wasn't bloody or anything, but it was pretty uncomfortable. Just make sure to stay hydrated!

I've heard horror stories about this stuff. Make sure to read the side effect list and be aware of what to look out for. My friend had a bad reaction and ended up in the hospital.
I had a really bad reaction to Meropenem. I developed hives and had trouble breathing. It was terrifying, and I had to be rushed to the ER. Turns out I'm allergic to it. Now I'm worried about future infections.
Sweet merciful heavens, NOT the IV-administered antibiotics. I've had it twice for severe infections and both times I felt like I was on death's doorstep. No more IVs for me. Give me the oral ones any day.
