I was prescribed Neo/poly/dex Ophth Susp 5ml for a bacterial eye infection. The drops seem to help, but I'm experiencing some eye irritation. I've read about potential side effects, and I'm wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences. I'm curious about how common these side effects are and if there are any tips for managing them. Has anyone had a severe reaction to these drops, and if so, what did you do? I've also seen posts about how effective these drops can be for clearing up infections and soothing the eye, so I want to hear from people who have found success with them. The medication includes two antibiotics (neomycin and polymyxin B) to treat the infection and a steroid (dexamethasone) to reduce inflammation, redness, and discomfort. The information sheet talks about the possibility of severe allergic reactions and changes in eyesight. I'm a bit nervous as I've never dealt with an eye infection requiring medication. Are there alternative treatments people can suggest? I know every person's body and experience is unique, so I want to hear a range of stories and advice.

I had to use these drops for a while and they worked well for me, but I did get some irritation. I found that using artificial tears between doses helped a lot.

I’m not sure about alternative treatments, but I’ve heard about herbal remedies, but the main thing is to get them checked out by a professional. How did you get the infection in the first place?

I was told a long time ago that using antibiotic eye drops can sometimes lead to a secondary infection. Like everything else, some bacteria can become resistant to the medication.

Sounds awful! I've never had to deal with eye drops, but that is a scary side effect list. I hope you don't have any reactions!
