I've been recently prescribed Procysbi 75mg Oral Granules to manage my nephropathic cystinosis. I've read about the potential side effects, some of which are quite serious, and I'm a bit nervous. I've also heard about other people experiencing a few minor side effects like diarrhea and feeling tired, which I hope are manageable. Has anyone here taken Procysbi and dealt with these issues? I'd love to hear about your experiences, both good and bad. How did you manage the side effects, and what was the overall impact on your quality of life? Did you notice any significant improvements in your condition? Any advice on how to deal with the more severe side effects would be greatly appreciated.

I've been thinking about switching to Procysbi for my own treatment. How did you adjust your diet to better tolerate the medication? Have you noticed any changes in your kidney function or other organ systems?

I've been on Procysbi for about a year now, and while it has helped tremendously with my cystine levels, the side effects were a bit of a struggle at first. I experienced some stomach issues, specifically nausea and diarrhea, but my doctor put me on a regimen that seemed to help a lot. Make sure to eat high-fat foods to help absorb the medication, and be consistent with your dosing. It really makes a difference!

I've been on Procysbi for a while and while I have not had any serious issues, it's still important to talk with your doctor if you experience any severe symptoms. Pain in the ear or lightheadedness should not be ignored.

I'm glad to hear it's helping, but those stomach issues sound rough. What kind of regimen did your doctor put you on to manage the side effects?

I've had some ups and downs with Procysbi. The worst part for me was the mood changes and confusion. Some days I feel great, but then I have days when I just can't get out of bed. It's been a tough journey, but I've noticed a big improvement in my kidney function, so it's worth it for me.

I found that switching to a low-sodium diet really helped with the fluid and electrolyte imbalances. It's a bit of a hassle, but it's worth it. Also, drink lots of water—it helps flush out the cystine crystals.
