I recently started taking Firvanq to treat a C. diff infection. The doctor said it's an antibiotic liquid that works specifically in the intestines. I'm a bit nervous about the side effects, especially the severe ones. I've read about kidney problems, severe skin reactions, and even hearing loss. Has anyone else taken this? What was your experience like? Did you have any side effects, and how did you manage them? Also, what are the signs of kidney problems I should look out for? It's a bit overwhelming, so any advice or personal stories would be great. Thanks!

I had to take this for a C. diff infection a few years back. It worked wonders, but I had to deal with some nausea and fatigue. Nothing too bad, though. Just take it as prescribed and monitor your symptoms closely. You'll be fine.

The savings in medical costs and the reduction in the length of hospital stays for C. diff with oral vancomycin is amazing. I heard it is significantly less expensive than the IV version. Plus, it’s easier to deliver, but it needs to be monitored by the health care team.

Are there any foods or drinks you should avoid while on this medication? I don’t want to make things worse by mistake.

Definitely keep an eye on your urine output and any changes in your hearing. Long-term use can increase the risk of hearing loss, so be cautious. I'm not a doctor, but it's always good to be aware of these things.

Vancomycin can be tough on the body, but it's usually worth it to get rid of that nasty C. diff. Just be prepared for some discomfort and keep your doctor in the loop.

I had a mild kidney infection and was on that med for a week. The hard part is that you can’t miss a dose and it was quite unpleasant, but it was worth it. Just be cautious, stay hydrated and call your doctor if you feel weird

This medication is rough. I had a friend who had a severe reaction and ended up in the hospital. Be careful and don't ignore any concerning symptoms.

How long do you have to take it for? I remember my doc said it could take a few weeks to fully clear up the infection.

Serious side effects are rare, but they can happen. Just be on the lookout for any signs of an allergic reaction or kidney issues. If you notice blood in your urine, swelling, or any severe skin reactions, go to the hospital right away. Better safe than sorry.

I've taken Firvanq before, and while it was effective, I did experience some mild side effects like stomach pain and diarrhea. Make sure to stay hydrated and listen to your body. If something feels off, definitely contact your doctor.
