What to expect when taking Vancomycin 1gm Inj, 1 Vial?

I had a bad experience with Vancomycin. I ended up with a really nasty rash and had to stop taking it. I had an allergic reaction, so be careful! Good luck though, and listen to your doctors.
Vancomycin saved my life once, but it was a rough ride. Just stick with it and make sure you communicate any issues to your doctor. You'll be fine!
Nausea and diarrhea were the worst for me. I had to take it with food and it helped a bit, but still pretty rough. I'm glad I didn't have any of the really bad side effects though.
I work in a hospital and see this drug used a lot. The key is to administer it slowly through an IV and monitor for signs of 'red man syndrome' which includes flushing and itching. It's not life-threatening but can be uncomfortable.
I've had to administer this a few times as a nurse. Just make sure to take it as directed and stay in touch with your doctor. The blood tests are crucial to monitor kidney function.
