What to Expect When Your Child is Prescribed Amox-Clav ES 600mg/5ml Susp 125ml?
My pediatrician just prescribed Amox-Clav ES 600mg/5ml Susp 125ml for my child's ear infection and I must admit, I’m very nervous. I’ve never had to give my kid antibiotics before, and I’m worried about the side effects. The doctor mentioned that this combo of amoxicillin and clavulanate is pretty effective, but I’m still on edge. I read that it can cause really serious side effects, like allergic reactions and even liver problems. I just want to make sure I’m prepared. If your kiddo has taken this before, I’d love to hear about your experience! How did you handle the potential side effects? Any tips or things to watch out for?

My kid had a really bad reaction to this stuff. Swelling mouth and throat, fever, and chills. I took him to the ER and he had a drug-induced enterocolitis syndrome. I wish I had known about this side effect earlier. I don't recommend this medication.
Pro tip: give the medication with food to help with any stomach upset. Also, make sure to finish the entire course even if your child starts feeling better. Stopping early can lead to antibiotic resistance.
My pediitrecan told me that if my kid has diarrhea, to make sure to keep them hydrated and call the doc if it gets really bad. C diff-associated diarrhea can be serious, so better safe than sorry!
I had to give this to my daughter last year. She had some diaper rashes. Be prepared, the diarrhea can be really nasty. Just a heads up, mix in a bit of yogurt in their meals to help with the gut health. Also make sure to consult with the doctor before giving any over the counter medicines.
I had no idea about all these potential side effects. Thanks for sharing, everyone. I’ll definitely be on the lookout for any signs of trouble. Fingers crossed that my little one tolerates it well!
I totally get your anxiety. When my daughter was prescribed this, I felt the same way. Just remember, these serious side effects are rare and the doctor wouldn’t prescribe it if they didn’t think it was necessary. Just follow the instructions carefully and keep an eye out for any signs of trouble. You got this!
My child had a severe reaction to this antibiotic as well. I was not expecting this at all. She developed a rash and was sent to the ER. So, I completely understand your anxiety. 5/10 upvotes because this is a broad topic.
Amox-Clav ES is often prescribed for kids with ear infections, so you’re not alone in this. Hopefully, your kiddo feels better soon!
Yep, when my son had to take this, the first thing I did was keep a close eye on him for any allergic reactions. I got the shot in antibiotics and was told to watch any unusual symptoms. The seetings were scary to read, but thankfully, he only had some diarrhea and an upset stomach. Make sure to keep your pediatrician in the loop and try not to worry too much!
