Which is better for expats: Singapore or Hong Kong?
I'm considering a move to Southeast Asia and I'm torn between Singapore and Hong Kong. Both have their pros and cons, but I'm not sure which would be the better fit for an expat. I'm looking for insights from people who have lived in both places. What are the key differences in terms of culture, cost of living, job opportunities, and overall quality of life? Are there any significant downsides to either city that I should be aware of? Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Singapore wins hands down. I live there and the expat community is huge. It's a bit of a melting pot with people from all over the world. And the food is amazing—you can find anything from Indian to Malaysian to Chinese.
Hong Kong has a lot of culture and history, but Singapore is more modern and convenient. The rules in Singapore can be strict, but it makes the city very safe. Plus, the food in Singapore is amazing and the variety is incredible, maybe even better than Hong Kong!
Hong Kong has its charm, but the pollution and traffic make Singapore a better choice for families. The education system in Singapore is also superior, which is a big plus.
I've lived in Singapore for years, and it's a fantastic place to live, but Hong Kong has a more diverse culture and dynamic nightlife. Plus, the food scene in Hong Kong is world-class, especially the street food and dim sum. I wish Singapore was not always so strict with rules.
Honestly, you can't go wrong with either. But if you're into nature and outdoor activities, Hong Kong has some amazing hiking trails and beaches. Singapore has its own green spaces, but they feel more manicured and planned.
