I recently started taking Zaltrap 100mg/4ml Inj, 4ml for colon cancer that has spread. The medication is supposed to block proteins that help tumors grow new blood vessels, which in theory should slow down the cancer's growth. However, I've been experiencing some side effects and wanted to know if anyone else has had similar issues. The most concerning ones are the urgent side effects listed in the warning, such as allergic reactions, bleeding, and infections. Has anyone else had to deal with these? How do you manage them? Also, curious about long-term side effects and how others have handled them.

I had some terrible side effects with Zaltrap. I experienced extreme nausea and vomiting right after my first infusion. My nurse advised me to talk to my oncologist about anti-nausea meds to manage it. Fortunately, things got better after that. Also, make sure to drink plenty of fluids and keep an eye on your electrolytes. Dehydration can exacerbate many of these side effects.

I took Zaltrap for about 6 months. I had some skin issues—redness and irritation on my palms and soles of my feet—but this was bearable once I started using some moisturizing creams.

Headaches and fatigue are my biggest complaints. Just want to add a caution on the neurological symptoms as well. I had some balance issues and blurred vision after a few doses, so make sure to report anything unusual to your doctor right away.

I haven't had any serious side effects, only some minor mouth sores and a bit of diarrhea. The mouth sores can be treated with some simple rinse solutions, and the diarrhea is managed with over-the-counter meds.

Did any of you experience unusual skin changes like mine? I've got patches of skin on my face and arms that are turning splotchy. It's not as bad as the blistered skin, but it's still really disconcerting. The doctor said it's from the medication and should go away once I stop taking it, but it's really affecting my self-esteem.
