I've been prescribed Zileuton ER 600mg Tablets for my asthma, and I'm a bit concerned about the potential side effects. The medication seems effective, but I've read about some serious risks, like liver problems and allergic reactions. Has anyone else had any severe side effects with this drug? I'm also curious about the less severe side effects. The more I know, the better prepared I'll be. How many of you have taken this and what were your experiences?

I had to stop taking Zileuton because I developed signs of liver problems. I noticed my urine was dark, and I felt really tired all the time. I also had some stomach pain that I couldn't shake. My doctor ran some tests and found that my liver enzymes were elevated. I switched to a different medication and my liver is fine now. I wish the doctors would talk about this more.

I’ve been on Zileuton for a couple of years now and I’ve never had a problem. I’ve dealt with some asthma drugs that caused problems, but this one hasn’t. Definitely worth checking with your doctor if you aren’t sure. Best thing I’ve done.

I've been on Zileuton ER for a year now, and the only side effect I've had is a bit of muscle pain. But it goes away in a couple of days and it is worth it to not have asthma attacks.

I switched to Zileuton ER a few months ago and haven't had any issues so far. The most annoying side effect for me has been trouble sleeping. I wish they would tell you this is a problem, as I now have to take melatonin every night. I've heard that some people experience headaches but I haven’t had that issue. But I’m lucky, I guess.

My doctor warned me about the signs of an allergic reaction, and I'm glad he did. I developed a rash and some itching, and I caught it early. I went to the ER right away, and they gave me some meds to take. It was scary, but I'm better now and I’m glad I knew what to do.

I haven't had any severe side effects, but I've had some pretty bad headaches. I take ibuprofen to manage it, and it helps. My doctor says if it gets worse, I can stop taking the medicine and go back to an inhaler.

Has anyone else experienced changes in behavior? I've noticed I've been a bit more irritable since starting Zileuton. Maybe it's just the weather or the kids, but I can't help but wonder. I’m hoping it’s not the meds …

I've had to take Zileuton ER and I’m really not enjoying the muscle pain. I know it helps with the asthma, but still, it sucks. Has anyone found anything that helps with it? I know it might not be worth changing meds but I’m just looking for some tips to help with the muscle pain.

I saw this and thought of the commercials we had to sit through back in the 80s and 90s. 'If you're having trouble, ask your doctor about this medication that might kill you.'

I've had some nose and throat irritation, but nothing I can't handle. My asthma has been under control, so I'm not too worried about the side effects. I was worried when I first started taking it, but I've talked to my doctor and she says it is so worth it, since my asthma is so much better.
