I've been using Zinc Oxide 20% ointment for a few weeks now to treat my baby's diaper rash. It seems to be working, but I'm curious to hear from others. Has anyone else used this? Did it work for you? I'm also concerned about the side effects listed - has anyone experienced any of these? I want to make sure I'm using it safely.

I'm not a fan. Even though it worked for the rash, it inhaled ammonia. I was allergic to it. I used it for a small cut and it caused a weird reaction that made me break out in hives. I had to wash it all off.

I used this ointment for my baby's diaper rash for the first time and I think it works well. It forms a barrier on the skin which helps to prevent and heal minor cuts or burns. I've noticed it keeps moisture away from the skin, allowing it to heal. It’s a miracle for me.

How long did it take for the diaper rash to clear up for you?

I used this for my chafing during a long hike last summer. Worked great but I had to reapply several times a day. The burning smell was kinda gross but it was worth it for the relief.

I tried using zinc oxide on a small cut I got in the kitchen. The skin around it got really irritated and peely. I don't know if that was the ointment or just the cut but I've been avoiding it ever since. I might have been allergic...

I've used it for years with my kids. Works like a charm! I just made sure to change diapers frequently and it cleared up fast. Never had any side effects, so all good on that front.

It cleared up in a day. I apply it every time I change the diaper. I think it absorbs some of the moisture so the baby stays more comfortable. I use the diaper rash cream that has zinc oxide and petroleum jelly. I’ve never had problems with it. My daughter doesn't have sensitive skin but you have to be careful and pay attention to instructions.

I use zinc oxide as a skin protectant, but I had a weird reaction to it. My skin was itchy, red, and had hives. It was a bit scary. I had to wash it off immediately and apply a moisturizer, NyQuil, and a prescription steroid cream. I went to the doctor and had to take some allergy meds. It turned out I was allergic to it.
