I was recently prescribed Zytiga for my prostate cancer, and I'm trying to learn as much as possible about it. I have been on prednisone as directed, but I am wondering if anyone else has been able to manage the side effects well? I'm looking for tips and tricks for dealing with the minor side effects, and a good understanding of what serious complications to look out for can be felt. Yes, I have read the literature. I want the 'real world' experience. For example, how many people experience 'joint pain or swelling'? What is a nuanced description of the 'Muscle pain'?

The joint pain was pretty bad for me. I was prescribed a low dose of ibuprofen to help manage it. It's not a cure, but for me it was a big help. Also, doing stretches and light exercises helped.

I had no idea about the high blood sugar risks. I have been checking my blood sugar frequently, but I've avoided any problems so far. Just be careful, folks: if you're diabetic or prediabetic, you might have to watch this more closely.

I’ve heard that some people have had really bad allergic reactions to Zytiga. If you experience any of those symptoms, do not hesitate to get medical help immediately. Better safe than sorry.

I had a really bad experience with electrolyte imbalance, which led to some pretty intense muscle cramps. I had to adjust my diet and started drinking electrolyte drinks like Pedialyte. It’s been a game-changer. Just make sure to monitor your potassium levels regularly.
