I have been diagnosed with hemophilia A for as long as I can remember, and in the past, I have had to deal with bleeds that resulted in a lot of pain and difficulty. I had to take a break from Hemlibra because of joint pain, but I’ve heard others have had a better experience. It’s a bit of a bummer because it worked so well for me otherwise. Maybe I’ll try it again at some point if my situation changes.
I've been on Hemlibra for a few months now, and it's been a game-changer. No more frequent visits to the hospital for bleeds. It's definitely worth talking to your doctor about if you're struggling with other treatments.
I haven’t experienced any serious side effects, but I did notice some irritation at the injection site. Just make sure to rotate injection sites and keep them clean!
I switched to Hemlibra after developing inhibitors to factor VIII. It's been a huge relief not having to worry about spontaneous bleeds all the time. The injection is a bit of a hassle, but it's totally worth it for the peace of mind.
