I've been using Acetaminophen 160mg/5ml Solution to manage my child's fever, and it's been working well. However, I've read about the potential side effects, and I'm a bit worried. Has anyone else used this medication? I want to know if the benefits outweigh the risks. I've noticed it works well for fever but I'm concerned about the potential liver effects. Anyone have long term experience? Also, I've heard it's different than anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen. Can anyone explain the differences and why that might matter? I've also had a bit of trouble with the dosing - 5ml per dose seems a bit vague. I'd love some tips on how you guys have measured it precisely. My kid seems to be having trouble sleeping, but I'm not sure if that's a side effect. Any advice would be great.

We used this medication for our daughter when she had a serious case of chicken pox, and it did work. The problem was that she would have skin issues after using it, and we realized that her body is reacting to it. We found another type of fever meds that works well with her. I'm worried that there is a potential threat for Stevens-Johnson syndrome or a similar skin condition.

Seriously, if your child is having trouble sleeping, talk to your doctor. It could be a sign of something more serious.

I've read that acetaminophen can be hard on the liver with long-term use. Has anyone else experienced this?

I've always used 5ml dosage as it is. I'll never give my child more than that. I researched this type of solution, and it seems it is a lower risk than ibuprofen for liver issues. So, as long as you are not giving the child more than recommended, I don't think the risk is that bad.

I've used this for my kid and never noticed any issues, but I've always been careful with the dosing. Matter of fact, it helps me manage my regular pain well too.

Fluids and rest are always a good combination with any fever medication. Also, I was having a hard time dosing using measuring cups because they were just too confusing to use. I had to switch to measuring spoons. I'd suggest you avoid using them together in the same day to avoid an overdose.

My doctor told me that this medication is better for reducing fever than ibuprofen since it doesn't have any impact on blood clotting, but ibuprofen helps more for pain, like a bad headache or a stomach ache.
