I was prescribed Actonel 35mg Tablets for osteoporosis, and I've been doing some research on the side effects. The list is pretty long, and some of them seem really serious. I'm a bit worried about the jawbone problems and the urgent side effects mentioned. Has anyone else experienced these issues? I want to know if I should be taking any extra precautions or if there are any tips to minimize the risks. Also, how does this medication compare to others like Fosamax or Boniva? I've heard mixed things about them as well, but I'd like to hear from people who have actually taken them.

Yeah, the jawbone problems are no joke. I had a friend who had to have part of her jaw removed because of it. If you have any dental work coming up, talk to your doctor about it ASAP! They might want to adjust your medication.

I've read a bunch of contradictory articles about bisphosphonates (the class of drugs that Actonel belongs to). Some say they cause bone fractures, others say they prevent them. Any insights? Or is it because some people have too much or too little calcium? I'm confused.

I switched to Actonel from Fosamax because I heard it had fewer side effects and was easier on the stomach. So far, so good! But I do get really bad heartburn sometimes. Have you looked into taking it with food? That's what my doctor recommended

I've been on Actonel for a while and have had no issues. But I do take a calcium supplement as well, which helps with any potential issues with low calcium. I also make sure to get regular blood tests to monitor my levels, just to be safe. My doctor recommended this, and it's made me feel much more comfortable.

I've heard that Actonel can cause severe pain in the throat or chest. If you experience this, do not ignore it. It could be a sign of a serious condition called esophagitis. If you suspect that you have it, seek medical attention immediately. It's not worth the risk.
