I recently started using Ampicillin 2gm Inj 1 Vial for a bad ear infection. It seems to be working, but I've been seeing some worrying things. I've had some diarrhea. It's not too bad, but I've also noticed that it seems to be a lot of information to be a layman that makes it difficult. Has anyone else experienced similar issues and have any tips for dealing with it or just advice in general? I'm also wondering about the serious side effects mentioned in the documentation. How common are these really? I've had some mild stomach discomfort, but nothing too severe. Just curious if I should be more worried or just take it as a normal reaction to antibiotics.

Looks like if things go south you need to get to the doctor ASAP. Glad you are seeing some improvement.

Be careful with stomach issues, but I'd also keep an eye out for black hairy tongue. Weird side effect, but it's a thing.

Wait, is black hairy tongue really a thing? I'm glad I took the time to study a bit. I've had a similar reaction to a penicillin antibiotic and it was only when I switched to Ampicillin that it went away.

I am going to keep an eye out on the black hairy tongue side effect.

I've had Ampicillin a few times, actually. From what I understand, most of the serious side effects are really rare. Like 1 in 10,000 patients. I've never had any issues. But my friend got a rash and had to stop taking it.

The side effects are bad, but I've had some successes with Ampicillin. Once, I got a nasty UTI on vacation and it cleared it right up, even though I had to deal with some stomach issues while I was traveling. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for the same situation, but it worked.

This must be awful. I had an allergic reaction to some antibiotics once and it was terrifying. Hope you're doing alright.

There's a good reason to worry about C. diff. My mom ended up in the hospital with it after taking some strong antibiotics. Some docs are using probiotics to combat that but no idea if this is relevant. It's awful.
