Vancomycin is a powerful antibiotic often used for treating serious bacterial infections, such as those caused by MRSA. It works by stopping bacteria from building their cell walls, and it's typically administered via IV in a hospital setting. I've heard it can have some pretty severe side effects, so I'm curious to know if anyone here has gone through treatment with it. How did you handle the possible side effects? What was your experience like overall?

Oh, and if you do experience a severe skin reaction, get to the ER ASAP. Those Stevens-Johnson and toxic epidermal necrolysis things are serious.

I'm glad I got this antibiotic when I needed it but I got really sick from it. It's great for fighting infections, but the side effects were no joke. I had a bad reaction and ended up in the ER. Now I always ask about alternatives.

I had this in the hospital. I remember the nurse rushing through adminstration. She was sweating and I was wheezy. I made a mental note to file a complaint later. The good news is I got through it and my infection cleared. Just be sure to communicate any discomfort to the doctor.

Anyone know if there's a way to prevent the 'red man syndrome'? I heard it's common with Vancomycin.
