I was prescribed Augmentin 250mg/5ml Susp 100ml for an ear infection, and I've been reading the side effects list. It's incredibly scary to see things like 'severe skin reactions' and 'life-threatening bowel problems.' I've never had a serious reaction to medication before, but the thought of experiencing something like Stevens-Johnson syndrome is terrifying. I've been trying to stay calm, but it's hard not to be worried. Has anyone else had severe reactions to this? Or is it mostly just minor stuff? Trying to get a sense of what to expect here.

I've heard C. diff from antibiotics is a total nightmare. It's a real thing, and it’s scary. You need to be careful, and be honest with your doctor if you notice anything weird.

Avoid dairy and spicy foods while you're on antibiotics. It always helps me. I hope you feel better soon. You still have to take the antibiotics though. Hope it doesn't get worse and the infection clears up.

I had a really bad allergic reaction to Augmentin a few years ago. It started with a fever and then I got this horrendous rash all over my body. I ended up in the ER and they told me it was a severe allergic reaction. I was terrified, but thankfully, I recovered quickly. Since then, I've been super cautious with antibiotics. If you start feeling any of those symptoms, don't wait, go to the hospital right away. Better safe than sorry.

Diarrhea is the worst, but it usually just means you're fighting the infection. I got nasty diarrhea from Augmentin, but I didn't have a reaction. Just drink lots of water and take it easy. I wish the prescription came with a water bottle.

This stuff gave me the worst stomach pain and cramps. I thought I was going to die, but I toughed it out. It lasted only a few days. I know it sounds bad, but it's better than the infection. I had to switch to something else though, and my doctor said that the bad stomach reaction isn't rare. Stay calm and remember, it's usually the body fighting the infection.

I've been on Augmentin a few times and never had any issues. It cleared up my sinuses each time. It could be a different story for you, but try to relax. It's not a pleasant drug but it's usually worth it.
