I was recently prescribed Zocor (Simvastatin) 20mg tablets to manage high cholesterol. I've started taking them, but I'd love to hear from others who have experience with this medication. What kind of results did you see with your cholesterol levels? I'm a bit concerned about potential side effects, especially muscle pain, since I'm in my late 60s and have low thyroid function. Did anyone else experience any serious issues or complications? How long did it take for the medication to start working effectively? Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I've heard that drinking grapefruit juice can interfere with how this drug works. So if you're a fan of grapefruit, maybe lay off while you're on this. It won't hurt to check with your doctor first.

I've been on Zocor for about a year now and it's been great for my cholesterol levels.

I had to stop taking Zocor because it made me feel faint. I switched to another statin and it's been fine. So maybe you can change meds if you're having trouble.

I think it's important to mention that diet and exercise are crucial even when you're taking medication. I cut out red meat and started walking more and saw a big improvement in my cholesterol. The doc has to have you do a few things on your end too. It's not a magic pill.

I've been taking it for a while and I noticed that I get headaches sometimes, but nothing too serious. I drink a ton of water and it helps a little. I think the whole thing is worth it. Save you from a heart attack.

Not to scare anyone, but I had a friend who ended up with severe liver issues from Zocor. She had to stop taking it immediately. Make sure to get regular blood tests to monitor your liver function.

I wish they'd warned me about the muscle pain. I thought I was having a heart attack. Turns out it was just a side effect. I had no idea that could happen with a cholesterol drug.

I had some issues with muscle pain when I first started taking it. I had to switch to a lower dosage to get it under control. Just be careful if you feel anything out of the ordinary and talk to your doc.

I was really nervous about side effects too, but I haven't had any problems at all. My cholesterol levels are finally in a good range, though. I just make sure to take it at night, since it can cause stomach upset. Also make sure you're getting enough statin drugs every day, as I've heard that some people stop taking them because of fatigue
