I was recently prescribed Arikayce to treat my Mycobacterium Avium Complex (MAC) lung infection. This medication is a game-changer for those who haven't responded to other treatments. The liquid suspension is inhaled using a special nebulizer, and the tiny fatty particles (liposomes) help it stay in your lungs longer to fight the infection. I've been using it for a few months now, and while it's been effective, I've also experienced some side effects. I wanted to share my experience and get some advice from others who might be going through the same thing. Has anyone else used Arikayce for MAC? What were your experiences like, and how did you manage the side effects?

I was a bit nervous about the inhaler bit, but I found talking to my doctor about it really helped. He walked me through it step by step, and it’s not as bad as I thought it would be. Just a little extra care and routine.

I knew someone who had a bad reaction. They had ringing in the ears and some hearing loss, unfortunately. It's scary stuff, but I guess it's a risk you take with this kind of treatment.

I've had some good results from Arikayce, but I had to give up after I noticed blood in my urine. I was worried about kidney problems, so I stopped and talked to my doctor.

I think it’s important to weigh the benefits against the side effects. If you’re in a tough spot with MAC, this might be your best shot. Just listen to your body and talk to your doctor.

I had a bad reaction. I got a rash and started wheezing after my first treatment. It was scary, but I managed by seeking medical help right away. They switched me to a different treatment plan, and I'm doing much better.

I think the biggest challenge is getting used to the nebulizer. It's a bit of a hassle, but once you get the hang of it, it's not too bad. Just make sure you clean it properly.

I've heard mixed reviews about this one. Some people swear by it, others say they had to stop due to side effects. Anyone have success without major issues?
