I've just been prescribed Benazepril/hctz 20/12.5mg tablets for my high blood pressure. I've been searching for information on this medication's effects and potential side effects. I have heard that it can have potentially serious side effects, so I'd like to know if any of you have taken this medication, and if so, how did you find the experience? Any advice on managing potential side effects or dealing with any issues would be greatly appreciated. I'm particularly interested in how this medication compares to others, like Lisinopril. Is it better or worse for certain conditions? How does it interact with other medications? Does this medication have any specific dietary restrictions, like any other blood pressure medications? Thanks in advance for your help!

I've been on Benazepril/hctz for a few months now. It's been effective in controlling my blood pressure, but I did experience some dizziness at first. It went away after a few weeks, though, so it may just be a matter of your body adjusting to the medication.

Keep in mind that everyone is different. What works for one person might not work for another. If you have serious concerns, don't hesitate to talk to your doctor about other options. There are plenty of other medications out there.

I had some really bad stomach pain when I first started taking this. Turns out it was because I was taking it on an empty stomach. My doctor told me to take it with food and it's been fine since then. I've also had to give up a few of the salty snacks I liked, but it's worth it for my health.

If anyone gets the high blood sugar was it from having full blown diabetes or was it from pre-existing diabetes. I worry that this will be an issue for me.

Be careful with this medication, especially if you have any kind of kidney issues. It can cause some serious problems if not monitored properly. My doctor warned me about this, and I've had to get regular blood tests to make sure everything is okay.

I switched to Benazepril/hctz from Lisinopril because I was having a persistent cough with the latter. The cough went away, and I haven't had any major issues with the new medication. Fingers crossed it stays that way!
