I'm planning a hiking trip to Canada and I'm torn between hiking the West Coast Trail in the spring vs summer. I've heard the trail is stunning in both seasons, but I'm worried about the weather and trail conditions. If you've done either, what was your experience like? What are the pros and cons of each season? Should I pack special gear for either season? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Spring is amazing. Less crowded, but it can be wet. Make sure to pack a good rain jacket and waterproof boots - it can get muddy!

Bring plenty of bug spray if you go in the summer. Also, make sure to check the tide schedule, especially for the fast-moving sections.

I hiked it in June two years ago. The weather was perfect. No rain, no snow, no bugs, just sunshine. Been my favorite hike so far.

I went in late September and it was gorgeous. The fall colors were stunning, but I hit some snow in the higher elevations. Be prepared for anything with the weather!

I've done it in both spring and summer. The best time for you depends on what you're looking for. Spring has more mud, but fewer crowds and warmer weather. Summer has better trail conditions, but more people and potential bugs. And some trails may be closed in spring due to safety issues. Personally, I'd go in late spring, enjoy the solitude

I did the trail in summer and it was a wonderful experience. The trail was relatively dry, making it easier to navigate. The weather was great, and I saw fewer bears than expected. The water was crystal clear! Highlights include the beaches, the temperate rainforest, and the natural beauty of the region, especially at low tide.
