I've been using Betadine 10% Solution for cleaning minor cuts and scratches, but I'm starting to worry about the potential side effects. I've heard it can cause severe allergic reactions, and I'm not sure if I should continue using it. Can anyone share their experiences with Betadine? Are there any safer alternatives? It's crucial to know if the benefits outweigh the risks, especially for those with sensitive skin or allergies. If you've had a bad reaction, what did you do to treat it? Also, how should we properly report any side effects if they occur? We need to ensure we're not putting ourselves at risk unnecessarily. Thanks in advance for your insights!

I always keep a bottle of Betadine in my first aid kit. I haven't experienced any issues, but I have heard of people having reactions. Just be cautious and listen to your body. If you have any other concerns speak to your doctor.

I used Betadine on my son's cut and he got a rash. What do I do?

I've used Betadine for years on small cuts and burns. Never had a problem. It's a great antiseptic, but you should definitely be aware of the side effects. Also, be cautious with it if you have iodine allergies.

I got hives once after using Betadine on a cut. It was scary, and I had to go to the ER. Now, I stick to hydrogen peroxide and alcohol for minor wounds. Just be careful.

I'm an ER nurse, and we use Betadine all the time in the hospital. Just make sure to dilute it properly—usually with water or saline—before applying it to wounds. Also, avoid using it on large areas of the body or for extended periods.

You can report side effects to the FDA through their website (https://www.fda.gov/medwatch). It’s important to keep track of these things.

Always rinse Betadine off after 10 minutes. It’s harsh, so leaving it on too long can cause skin irritation. Better to be safe.
