If you've received Brevibloc 2000mg/100ml Inj (Esmolol) in an emergency situation or during surgery, please share your experiences. How quickly did it take effect? How long did the side effects last? Any tips for managing them? What was your overall experience with this medication? What can patients and their families expect if they or a loved one need to take it?

I’ve had a few patients who reacted badly to it. One guy started wheezing and having chest tightness, had to stop it all together. It’s scary to see it happening in the ER.

Dude, I think I had that once in the ER, hard to remember. I wasn’t in surgery though. I don’t remember having a huge reaction though. I got a bit dizzy but that’s it.

Had a bad experience with this. I started sweating and feeling lightheaded. They stopped the infusion but I didn't feel normal for a while. I wish the doctor had warned me about the side effects. I had to lie down for a few hours after it was turned off

I had to take it for a surgery but had no side effects and the doctor said I was lucky, my heart rate went back to normal. I was really scared and nervous before the surgery, but the meds worked perfectly and I had no issues.

The fast action and quick wear off is really important. I had a panic attack during my heart surgery and they gave me Esmolol. It calmed my heart right down. But the nurse said she'd never seen anyone with such a fast heart rate before. I was freaking out at the time but afterward I felt better.

I was given this during surgery and it definitely did the job. I woke up from my surgery fine, but I had a bad reaction that caused my heart rate to drop too low. They had to stop the infusion and I was fine after that. I had only an upset stomach for a bit. It was scary, but I knew it was necessary and I knew it would wear off.

My dad was given this in the ER for high blood pressure. It worked like a charm, but he was sweating buckets the whole time and felt pretty dizzy. The nurses said it was normal and to expect it. He was in and out of the ER in no time.

How did you even get Esmolol if it's an IV? Most patients don't get to choose what’s used on them in this type of emergency.

I work in the ED and we use this a lot. It’s great for quickly controlling heart rate or blood pressure in emergencies. Just remember, if you have someone who's not stable, check their potassium levels and keep an eye out for those life-threatening side effects. The key is to monitor them constantly and adjust the dose as needed. Mistakes can happen if you’re not careful.

Esmolol is fantastic, I swear by it. I had a procedure where I needed my heart rate controlled. It worked perfectly, no side effects at all. It's a relief that it wears off quickly, it's a lot less scary than some other meds.
