Chlorhexidine Gluc 4% Topical Soln: Has anyone had bad reactions?
Chlorhexidine gluconate 4% topical solution is a strong antiseptic used to kill germs on the skin. I started using it for general skin cleansing to prevent infections. It's commonly used before surgery and for handwashing in healthcare settings. Today, I noticed some irritation on my skin and I'm worried about side effects. Has anyone else experienced any issues? The list of possible side effects is long—including severe reactions like skin irritation, dryness, itching, and even more severe allergic reactions. Has anyone else had any problems with this stuff? Let's discuss our experiences!

I had to stop using it because of hives and the irritation was too much. I wish I had known about the potential side effects before I started using it. What a nightmare! I ended up switching to povidone-iodine, and I've been fine since.
Just remember, if you experience any severe symptoms like swelling of the mouth or throat, seek immediate medical attention and do NOT wait if the symptom is urgent.
How long have you been using it? Sometimes it takes a bit for the skin to adjust.
I've never had a problem with it, but I make sure to rinse it off properly after using.
I've been using Chlorhexidine for years in my job as a nurse, and I've never had any issues. Make sure you're not leaving it on your skin for too long—rinsing thoroughly should help with irritation.
