I've been prescribed Ciprofloxacin 250mg tablets for a bacterial infection. Has anyone else had experience this medication? I've read up on the side effects, and while the common ones like diarrhea and upset stomach don't sound too bad, I'm concerned about the more severe reactions. Are there any precautions I should take to minimize these risks? Also, I've heard that it's important to finish the entire course of treatment, even if I feel better. Is this true? Has anyone had issues with recurring infections from not finishing the course?

The worst part about antibiotics is how they wipe out your gut flora. I always take probiotics to help get everything back in order.

I’ve heard that taking it with food can help with the stomach issues, but not everyone has the same experience.

That's scary! Remember to contact your doctor immediately if you experience any severe side effects. I had a friend who had a severe skin reaction and ended up in the hospital. It’s scary stuff! That said, my doctor told me that this should not be feared as long as you listen to your body and are aware of the risks. It's all about being proactive and informed, and that goes for any medication.

I had a horrible reaction to Ciprofloxacin a few years back. I developed tendonitis, it was awful.

If you feel really bad or have any of those severe side effects, remind yourself to stop taking it and reach out to your doctor. And if you are feeling particularly bad, go to the emergency room. Even if you are better, you can get sick again, especially if you have a compromised immune system. You will be okay as long as you are careful. And use probiotics and drink plenty of water. I did all of that and I did not have any issues. It is kind of scary to take something this strong, but it is effective

I had no issues with Cipro, but I did have a bad reaction to the penicillin I took before that. I hope this works out for you, just be cautious and if anything seems off, call your doctor. Better safe than sorry.

Ciprofloxacin can be rough on the gut. Taking probiotics after meals can help minimize diarrhea and stomach issues. Drink plenty of fluids as well, but avoid dairy if you can. Definitely finish the entire course, even if you feel better. You can always ask your doctor to prescribe a shorter course for repeated infections in the future if this medication is required frequently. I've had this prescription and it is effective and generally safe but as with any drug, just be aware of the severity of the side effects.

I've taken ciprofloxacin to treat some serious infections. As long as you take it as directed, you shouldn't have any problems. I found it hard to swallow but did not experience high side effects. Once, I had a bit of a headache but that was all. It works on all kinds of infections and feelings go away quickly. Just be sure to finish the course.

I take ciprofloxacin for chronic infections. It has worked really well. This is tougher to swallow than other meds, and I have trouble swallowing pills, but that's it. It is a strong antibiotic and I seem to do well with it. I have had more issues with other antibiotics, and have to change courses frequently. It is important to finish the full course, even when you feel better. If you don't, you can end up with secondary infections. If you have any of the severe reactions, it may be worth reaching out to your doctor or a specialist about alternatives

Ciprofloxacin saved my life during a nasty bout of pneumonia. I had some stomach issues, but nothing too bad and it all went away a couple days after finishing the course. No severe issues. Just make sure you're upfront with your doctor about any allergies or existing conditions. They can help you manage the risks.
