I've been prescribed Ciprofloxacin 500mg Tablets for a urinary tract infection, and I'm curious to hear from others who have taken this antibiotic. How effective was it for you? Did you experience any of the side effects listed, especially the more severe ones like allergic reactions or kidney problems? I've read about the potential for severe diarrhea and even aortic issues, which is a bit scary. How common are these side effects really? Also, how did you handle the common side effects like diarrhea, stomach upset, or headache? Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Is it really that bad? Maybe I'll take a look at this and see if I can find a good alternative. I hear of some really nasty stuff about antibiotics in general. I know they work but they are not without risks.

I had a really bad case of C. diff after taking Ciprofloxacin. The diarrhea was so severe, I had to go to the hospital. It's scary stuff. Make sure you talk to your doctor about the risks and how to recognize the signs.

I'm on it now for a UTI. It's only been a few days, but I'm already feeling better. No side effects so far, but I'm keeping an eye out. Just make sure to take it as prescribed and stay hydrated.

Feeling super lethargic on this stuff. I don't know if it's a side effect but who wants to feel like on a 3 day bender but with no hangover?

I had to stop taking Ciprofloxacin because I developed an allergic reaction with severe hives and swelling. It was scary, but I'm glad I caught it early. If you experience any of those symptoms, go to the ER right away. I had to switch to a different antibiotic, but it wasn't as effective so be sure to consult with your doctor and get the best treatment plan for yourself. It's good to be cautious and not assume that just because an antibiotic is effective for one person it is effective for all.

I had to switch to a different antibiotic because of severe joint pain. I've read that muscle and joint pain are rare but possible side effects of this medication, but I didn't know how severe. I didn't know that it is more common in people o=over 60, which I was. It was an interesting experience, but I wish I would have known about some of the things that I was experiencing.

I didn't have any issues but my experience with ciprofloxacin was not preventative but curative, I had a respiratory tract infection and got cleat right up after a week of ciprofloxacin. I had read about the potential side effects (allergies, kidney problems, etc) had to be real careful because my immune response was weakened due to the infection. I had no issues but I made sure my doctor knew right away if I did.
