I was recently prescribed Dapagliflozin 5mg Tablets to help manage my type 2 diabetes. I've been taking them for a few weeks now, and while I've noticed some improvement in my blood sugar levels, I'm a bit concerned about the potential side effects. The medication has been a bit complicated to understand, I am a software engineer & not a biologist, & I've been trying to find more information about the less common but serious side effects. I have read the pamphlet but would like to hear some personal experiences from those who have been taking this medication. Is anyone else here on Dapagliflozin and experienced any unusual side effects? Do these side effects fade? I would appreciate any insights or advice you can share.

I'm on my third round of antibiotics for a UTI. I'm not sure if it's connected to Dapagliflozin, but it's frustrating. The yeast infection is a bit more of a hassle than the UTI.

I had a really bad UTI while on this medication. It was awful and the doctor suggested stopping the medication. One time was enough for me.

I had some yeast infections while on this medication. My doctor told me it was a common & you might be more likely since you're on this medication. I had no choice but to stop. Always good to check in with your doctor if your prescription doesn't seem to be going your way. It's definitely pretty common to have yeast infections on this medication.

I switched to Dapagliflozin from Metformin because I wasn't tolerating it well. Metformin was harder for me to tolerate, but I think my doctor is right & Dapagliflozin has been much better for me. I do have to be mindful of staying hydrated though – I've had some increased thirst and passing a lot of urine! You can get into trouble if you don't drink enough water.

I've heard some people have issues with low blood sugar on this medication. I've had some issues with that. If you experience any symptoms, call your doctor right away and follow their instructions for managing low blood sugar, which may include taking glucose tablets.

The FDA website has a lot of good information on side effects, reporting them, and so on. You can easily find other people's experiences with serious side effects.
