I've been prescribed Nohist-DM Liquid to help with my cold symptoms, but after reading about the potential side effects, I'm feeling a bit anxious. The medication promises to relieve sneezing, stuffy nose, and coughing, but the list of severe side effects is concerning. Has anyone else taken this medicine and experienced any issues? I'm particularly worried about the allergic reactions and high blood pressure symptoms. Should I be more careful. I'm 32, male, and in otherwise good health, but these warnings are making me reconsider taking it. Does anyone have advice or reassurance before I call my doctor?

I’ve been taking this stuff for years. It's never worked for me. I'm just wondering why they can't make drugs that don't have these freaky side effects? It's way too much risk. My prescription is just expired now, so I can't even use it!

I can't believe the prescription volume of these alternative drugs. I'd much rather take a natural course of action and try some honey and lemon rather than risking these serious side effects. I have to say I'm a bit worried after reading this post. I've been giving it to my young daughter and realizing there are some serious side effects in here is a bit of a wake up call.

Be super cautious, I worked with a patient who developed hives and blisters all over. It's scary!

Don't freak out about the serious side effects, it's rare that these things happen – but always be safe! If you're really worried, there are herbal cold remedies available if you don't want to risk this. I've never tried them, but I'm sure they work just as well as the drugs.

Feeling nervous is normal, but you should know that serious side effects are rare. Just keep an eye out for any unusual symptoms and if you experience them, go straight to the hospital.

Serious question: can you mix this with other cold meds, like Sudafed?

I ended up with chest pain after taking this and I had to rush to the ER. Not worth the risk for me. Stick to more natural remedies if you can

Why anyone wants to deal with these drugs when you can just let your body work it out is beyond me. I did this years ago and it's never failed me! But that's just me!

I've had issues with antihistamines before causing me to get drowsy, so I would definitely call your doctor. Fortunately for me I started taking Nyquil instead, which is much more gentle on the body. I feel bad for anyone trying to manage a cold without a good night's sleep!
