I've recently been prescribed Somatuline (Lanreotide) 90mg/0.3ml for acromegaly. I've heard that the injections can be tough, and the side effects list is a bit scary. Has anyone else been on this medication? I'd love to hear about your experiences, both good and bad. Especially interested in tips for dealing with any side effects or injection pain. Thanks in advance for sharing!

I've noticed that my blood sugar levels have been fluctuating a lot. I have to check them more often than before. I haven't gotten used to blood sugar monitors yet. How do you deal with that?

I've been on Somatuline for about a year now, and while the injections are no walk in the park, I've found that using a numbing cream before injecting helps a lot. Be sure to do it 30 minutes before injection. As for side effects, I've had some diarrhea and stomach upset, but my doctor helped me manage that with some adjustments.

Somatostatin analogs can be tough, but they're worth it if they're controlling your acromegaly. I've found that staying hydrated and eating small, frequent meals helps with the GI side effects. Also, talk to your doctor about switching to a different injection site each month to prevent tissue damage.

I have Acute Pancreatitis and have had some severe back pain and upset stomach or vomiting. I've had to change my diet quite a bit to manage this and it can be frustrating to not eat all the foods I used to. But it's been worth it for me to control my tumor.

I'm on my third month and have had a few bad reactions. I get gallbladder pain. My doctor prescribed some hormone blockers and this seems to have helped a bit. I have to monitor my glucose levels more closely now as well.

I had to quit my job because this stuff made me crazy dizzy and I couldn't function at work anymore.
