I was prescribed Famvir 125mg tablets for a recent outbreak of shingles. The medication seems to be working well, but I've been experiencing some side effects that I wasn't expecting. Has anyone else had issues with headaches or upset stomach? I'm curious to hear about other people's experiences with this medication and any tips for managing the side effects.

I've been taking the tablets for about a week now, and while the shingles are getting better, I've had a persistent headache that's been pretty unbearable at times. My doctor mentioned that this is a common side effect, but it's still concerning.

The upset stomach and diarrhea have been manageable, and I know the side effects might not be as bad for everyone. I was also worried about potential life-threatening reactions, but thankfully, I haven't experienced anything like that. If you've had a similar experience or can offer any advice, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Also, I had no idea that Famvir was used for different types of herpes infections. I thought it was just for shingles, so I did some research and found that it works for cold sores and genital herpes as well, which is pretty interesting.

I had the same problem with headaches. They gave Fexofenadine (generic Allergex) to deal with the itching and for me it also helped with the headaches. Maybe ask your doctor about it.

You know, I didn't have any side effects with Famvir, but I did with Zovirax. Everyone's different, so maybe it's worth trying out other antivirals as well, if you can.

I had a bad reaction to Famvir, I'm glad it's working out for you. I hope the headaches go away. Have you tried taking Ibuprofen? That might help with the headache.

Or it could be migrating from the pounding on your body. Standing up quick or bending over could cause a blood rush to your head and that could also be the cause of the headaches.

I feel like the side effects are worth it because this stuff actually works. My outbreak was gone in 2 weeks. It's a pain in the ass having to take medicine, but it's better than dealing with the shingles again.
