I've been prescribed Glycopyrrolate 0.2mg/ml Inj, 2ml to help manage secretions during my upcoming surgery. Has anyone else had experience with this medication? I'm particularly interested in hearing about any side effects you may have experienced and how you managed them. My doctor mentioned it might cause dry mouth and dizziness, among other things. I'm also a bit worried about the serious side effects listed. How common are these? And what should I do if I start experiencing any of them? Any advice or personal stories would be greatly appreciated!

Glycopyrrolate can be a bit of a double-edged sword. It's great for controlling secretions, but the side effects can be rough. I found that staying hydrated really helped with the dry mouth and dizziness. Drink plenty of water and avoid activities that require a lot of concentration until you know how the meds will affect you. If you start experiencing any of the serious side effects, get to the ER immediately. You'll need medical attention. The risk might be low, but it's real, and you don't want to take it lightly.

Oh, the sugar free candy thing... genius! That was my life saver. I went through so much candy after finally figuring out what to do for the dry mouth. If your dry mouth gets bad, try the breath mints. If your mouth is dry, try sucking on a mints.

Be prepared for dry mouth for sure but anxiety? I had no idea. Feeling faint from the anxiety was tough. I talked to my doctor about it, and they suggested a different medication, but it really didn't help with the panic. It's worth mentioning to your doctor if you start feeling like your anxiety is increasing.

I was worried about the inability to sweat and how it would affect me during exercise. Turns out it only happened in extreme heat, though. The drug worked well during surgery. It'll help you to ask a lot of questions about the meds before you're in the office, because you'll have questions after.

Feeling lightheaded was the worst part for me. I had to be really careful about standing up too quickly. Make sure you have someone with you who can help if you start feeling dizzy. Be careful with physical activity too. You might get dizzy if you go too hard, too fast. And sometimes the dry mouth is so bad that you can't eat or talk. That was the worst.

I had this for my surgery last year. The dry mouth was terrible, but manageable with sugar-free candy. No serious side effects, though. Just be prepared for that dry mouth!
