I was prescribed Penicillin V potassium (the generic for Penicillin Vk 125mg/5ml Soln 200ml) for a nasty strep throat, and while it's working, I'm having a hard time finishing the entire course. I feel so much better that I'm tempted to stop early. Is this a bad idea? I know antibiotics are supposed to be taken the whole course or else, and I know there's some talk of antibiotic resistance. What if I just have digestive issues? I don't want to make things worse. What do you all think?

Agree, it’s hard to finish that course. Although I did and my sinus infection cleared up eventually. Problem was my insurance only covers so much and after I was 4 days away from being done, I ran out of medication. Luckily, the doc gave me a few days worth for an emergency. Be sure you have enough for the full course.

I’m having diarrhea. Is that normal? I’m only halfway through my course.

This stupid stuff is too many 200ml bottles to be dealing with.

I got CDAD from this stuff and almost died. Don't mess around, finish the whole course and if you have any of the symptoms for a severe reaction, get help immediately.

If you’re feeling better, that’s good, but you absolutely have to finish the whole course. It’s not just about you, because that’s how antibiotic resistance happens. We all have to do our part to keep antibiotics effective. Keep on keeping on!

I had black, hairy tongue from this medication. Definitely not fun, but worth it to get over the infection.

I totally get that. Penicillin can be rough on your tummy, but you gotta finish that course. Trust me, I ignored that advice last time and got a relapse that was way worse. Stick it out!
