Doxycycline is commonly prescribed for various bacterial infections, but I'm wondering if anyone has had serious side effects. I've read about severe allergic reactions, liver problems, and even increased pressure in the brain. Has anyone here dealt with any of these? How did you handle it? And what can we do to prevent these issues? I've also heard about antibiotic-associated diarrhea. Any advice on that would be appreciated. Thank you!

I had a friend who had a severe reaction to Doxycycline. She had a really bad rash and was wheezing. I think she had an allergic reaction and ended up in the ER. She's fine now, but it was pretty scary at the time. Guess we're all different when it comes to meds.

Do the side effects go away after you stop taking the medication? I'm worried about long-term effects.

I know antibiotics can cause yeast infections. Is that a common side effect with Doxycycline as well?

I took Doxycycline for a severe acne issue and had no problems at all. Just a bit of stomach upset, but nothing major. Definitely worth it for me.

I had a friend who got Clostridioides difficile-associated diarrhea (CDAD) from Doxycycline. She was in the hospital for a week and had to take a different round of antibiotics to clear it up. Scary stuff!

I took Doxycycline for a UTI and everything went smoothly! Just a little nausea but nothing I couldn’t handle. I was also really careful about taking it with food to avoid stomach issues.

I experienced some really bad stomach pain and realized it was a sign of a liver problem. It was scary. I ended up in the ER and they switched me to a different antibiotic.
