Internist here that has seen this administered quite a few times. It tends to have a lot of side effects, none too serious in the long run. The biggest issue is the patient's anxiety around the administration. With long-acting SVT, adenosine is the best treatment method I've seen.
I had this a few years ago and felt like I was dying. The flushing and shortness of breath were intense but only lasted a few minutes. I was fine after that but it was scary!
I've had SVT for 15 years and adenosine has worked every time. A bit scary the first time but now it's just a minor inconvenience. The rash and headaches suck, but it's okay okay, I'd rather be okay than having SVT.
If you have SVT, adenosine is a fantastic treatment with great efficacy. It's scary the first time, but your body gets used to it, and it's a great option to reset your heart rate. As long as you aren't allergic, the side effects are manageable.
