I recently started using Apokyn 10mg/ml Inj, 3ml for my advanced Parkinson's disease. It's been a lifesaver for sudden 'off' episodes, but I'm worried about the potential side effects. The list is quite extensive, and some of them sound quite serious. Has anyone else had issues with Apokyn? Specifically, how serious were they, and did they go away over time? I've heard from some people that they managed to avoid the severe side effects, but is that really the case, or are these just anecdotes. How do you manage the needle usage? Does the injection site get irritated often?

My experience has been pretty good so far. I've had a few issues with dizziness and excessive sweating, but nothing too serious. My doctor had me keep a diary of my symptoms to see if we can identify any patterns and we have cut down the dose. It's totally manageable, I hope my experience helps others.

I've been on Apokyn for a few months now, and honestly, the injection sites haven't been too bad, though the 4th day where I use it was the worst, I'll take that over the tremors though. I've also experienced some minor dizziness, but nothing severe. Just make sure to use it as prescribed and talk to your doctor if you experience anything concerning.

I had a friend who started using Apokyn and had a severe allergic reaction. It was terrifying. I'm surprised more people aren't talking about the risks. Please be careful and make sure you have emergency help nearby when you start using it. It's serious business.

I'm glad to see others have had similar experiences. It's reassuring to know that I'm not alone in this. I've been considering Apokyn but was worried about the side effects. It sounds like the benefits might outweigh the risks, especially for those with advanced Parkinson's.

Be careful with Apokyn! My grandmother was on it and had some serious issues with hallucinations. It was terrifying for her and my family. I just hope the pharmaceutical companies find a better way to manage these potential side effects. Please be careful and report any issues to your doctor immediately.

I've had a few instances where I felt like I was getting a UTI. I've had to take double antibiotics for it. I can't imagine dealing with that long-term. I have also had some bruising at the injection site. Has anyone found any good ways to manage those side effects?

Sounds like you’re having a rough time. Definitely sounds like you should talk to your doctor about switching or adjusting the dosage if you are having severe issues. The sky's not falling, just be careful and follow the instructions. I hope you get better soon.

I switched to Apokyn from another medication, and the difference has been incredible. The 'off' episodes have decreased significantly, which has improved my quality of life. I've had a few instances of sleepiness but nothing too severe. My doctor told me to avoid driving for a while after the injection. I've also stayed close to a chair to sit if needed. As always, communication with your doctor is key.

I think it's important to note that Apokyn has been a game-changer for some people, despite the potential side effects. I've seen firsthand how it can quickly alleviate symptoms that other medications can't. With anything in life, it comes with a risk-reward tradeoff. For me, the relief from 'off' episodes far outweighs the potential side effects.

I've noticed a bit of the irritation at the injection site but it goes away on its own. But I've heard from some people that they experienced severe side effects. I'm just grateful that it's working for me so far. It's a relief to know that the severe side effects are rare.
