Has anyone experienced severe side effects from Benzonatate 100mg Capsules?
I've been prescribed Benzonatate 100mg Capsules for a persistent cough, and while it seems to help, I'm a bit concerned about the potential side effects. The leaflet mentions some serious issues like changes in behavior, hallucinations, and even allergic reactions. Has anyone else had bad side effects? How did you deal with them? I'm particularly worried about the numbness and tingling in the mouth and throat. Any advice on how to manage this? Also, what about the less serious side effects like dizziness or upset stomach? Did anyone take this medication and experience some of these issues? I am also wondering if the medication can be broken or if I should swallow the capsule whole.

I took Benzonatate for a few weeks and didn't experience any serious side effects, just a bit of dizziness. Make sure to take it with food to avoid an upset stomach.
I had numbness in my mouth for a few hours after taking it. It was a bit scary, but my doctor said it was normal. Just don't eat or drink until it goes away.
Don't worry about the side effects. Sometimes the risk is worth it if you are miserable from the coughing.
I had a friend who had hallucinations from this stuff. Scary experience, but rare. Just be cautious and follow the doctor's advice. If it gets bad then let them know.
I had the same concern but my doctor said it was safe as long as I followed the directions. It worked for me, so I'm glad I took it.
