Has anyone experienced severe side effects from Retrovir (AZT) 50mg/5ml Syrup?
I've recently started taking Retrovir (AZT) 50mg/5ml Syrup as part of my HIV treatment regimen. The doctor explained it works by blocking reverse transcriptase, which helps reduce the viral load and improve my immune system. However, the list of possible side effects is quite long and some of them are quite scary like severe skin reactions or lactic acidosis. I'm curious to know if anyone else has been on this medication and how their experience was. I'm especially interested in hearing about the side effects and how they were managed. Is anyone else currently on this syrup alone or in a combination? Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I had a reaction to Retrovir and switched to a different antiviral. I only went as far as developing some rashes and hives. Don't be scared to speak to your physician about switching if it gets too bad.
Retrovir was a game-changer for me. It reduced my viral load significantly and I didn't experience any major side effects. Just some mild fatigue initially. Stick with it, you'll get used to it.
I started Retrovir a few months back. My doc told me it will help but I felt so tired and weak I believed I didn't get what he said at all. Got a supplement from the pharmacy and it helped a lot.
I'm really glad I found this thread. I'm not alone feeling this way. It’s a relief to know others are going through the same thing and there’s a community here.
Just started Retrovir a few weeks ago, haven't had any side effects yet. Fingers crossed it stays that way. Keeping my fingers crossed for all of us! ❤️
