I've been prescribed Cefoxitin 2gm Inj for a serious bone infection and I'm feeling pretty nervous about it. I've read about the potential side effects, especially the urgent ones, and I'm wondering if anyone has had experience with this medication. How bad is the injection site irritation? Did you experience any of the more serious side effects like seizures or kidney problems? I'm also curious about the diarrhea—how common is it, and how severe? Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Don't forget that the diarrhea can happen a few months after the treatment too. That's something I wasn't prepared for. I had to call my doctor again.

I had a severe allergic reaction to Cefoxitin. I had to rush to the ER for swelling in my face and throat. I was scared to death. I never want to go through that again. Always be careful.

The thing that scares me the most is the Clostridioides difficile-associati diarrhea (CDAD) stuff. Is that really a risk? Would it really happen? I can't imagine that it would

Just make sure to follow your doctor’s instructions to the letter. Monitor for any of the severe symptoms and if you see them, get to the ER ASAP.

I've had bad diarrhea but it wasn't so bad that I had to go to the hospital. But I did have a fever and chills once. That was scary, but my doctor assured me it was just a reaction to the medication. I just felt really weak.

I don't know. I don't know if the medication is worth the risk of serious side effects.

I had to take Cefoxitin for a skin infection and the injection site irritation was pretty mild. I just had some localized redness and swelling for a couple of days. But I did have diarrhea, which was a bit concerning. It started about three days into the treatment and was pretty watery. I called my doctor right away and they told me it was probably due to the Cefoxitin. They recommended some probiotics and told me to drink plenty of fluids. It cleared up after a few days. I agree that it's important to stay vigilant for more serious symptoms.

Cefoxitin saved me after a car accident and almost losing my leg to a flesh-eating bacteria. Don't be scared of the rare side effects. You're probably going to be ok.
