I recently started taking Desferal (deferoxamine) 500mg Inj, 1vial to manage excess iron in my body due to frequent blood transfusions. I'm curious to know if anyone else has had experience with this medication. How did you find the treatment overall? What side effects did you encounter and how did you manage them? I've read about some potential severe side effects, so I'm particularly interested in hearing from those who might have experienced them. Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated.

Ugh, the urine color change freaked me out at first, but my doctor said it's normal. Just keep hydrated and it should be fine.

I felt dizzy the first few times I used it, but it went away after a while. Just be careful when you start.

I’m hearing a lot of mixed reviews, but I think I’ll give it a try. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences!

Definitely talk to your doctor about the side effects. I had some muscle spasms but they helped me manage it with some changes in dosage.

Make sure you're not allergic to any of the ingredients. I had a friend who had a bad reaction and ended up in the hospital. Glad I checked the list of possible symptoms.

I had a bad reaction to Desferal. My throat tightened up and I could barely breathe. Went to the ER and they said it was an allergic reaction. It's rare but be careful.

I've been on Desferal for a while and haven't had any major issues. Just make sure you're monitored regularly, just in case.

This stuff is strong. I get blueish skin sometimes, but my doctor says it’s normal.

The side effects list is pretty long, but I only got a headache a few times. Drink plenty of water and you should be fine.
