I’ve been struggling with depression and anxiety for a while now, and my doctor prescribed Perphenazine/amitriptyline 2-25 Tab. It’s a combo of amitriptyline (an antidepressant) and perphenazine (an antipsychotic). I’m wondering if anyone else has tried this and had any positive or negative experiences. Depression sucks and anything that helps, right? But this one is a double-edged sword. Stick it out for a few weeks and talk openly to your doctor. That’s how I managed my side effects.
I had a really bad reaction to the perphenazine part. I developed some weird muscle movements and my doctor said it was tardive dyskinesia. Scary stuff, I had to stop taking it immediately.
You gotta weigh the pros and cons. It’s helped a lot with my mood swings but the constant dry mouth is annoying. Drink lots of water to counteract that.
Be careful with this one. I ended up in the ER with severe stomach pain. Turns out it was a rare but serious side effect. Not worth the risk for me.
