I've been dealing with chronic constipation for a while now and my doctor recently prescribed Senna 8.8mg/5ml Syrup. I've read that it usually works within 6 to 12 hours, so I've been taking it at bedtime. I'm curious to hear from others who have used this laxative. How effective was it for you? Did you experience any side effects? Any tips on managing constipation long-term would be greatly appreciated.

I've also seen that it can cause stomach pain or cramps. Wondering if there are any tricks to mitigate this.

I had to use Senna after a particularly bad bout of food poisoning. It wasn't fun, but it got the job done. Just make sure you have easy access to a bathroom!

Just started using it. It's day two and I haven't felt any different. I think I may have to up the dose.

I had to take it for a while after surgery because of the extra opioids. Side effects? As long as you stay hydrated, it's not too bad. But yeah, it can be rough if you're not used to it. Stomach cramping is not fun

Be very careful with Senna. I overused it and it messed up my digestive system for months. Stick to the prescribed dose or look for safer alternatives first. You might need to drink a lot of water as well.

I've used it a few times and it works alright but the taste is horrible. I mix it with some juice to make it more bearable. Just be cautious because it's no joke when it works.

I had really bad cramps. I think I took it too early in the day. If you take it on an empty stomach, it may be worse. You don't want to be stuck on a road trip in the middle of nowhere with this stuff.

Laxatives are not something I like to take regularly. I prefer a lot of fiber and probiotics. Sometimes this is the obvious answer.
