I recently started taking Mercaptopurine 20mg/ml Oral Susp for leukemia, and I'm looking for advice on managing side effects. The medication list is quite long, and I'm a bit overwhelmed. I've heard from my doctor that it's important to have regular blood tests, but I'm wondering if anyone has tips on how to deal with the more common side effects like fatigue and stomach upset. Also, how do you handle the emotional aspect of taking a powerful drug like this? Any insights or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated! Additionally, what should I do if I experience any of the rare but serious conditions listed? Thank you in advance for your help.

I'm on week 3 of Mercaptopurine, and I'm already feeling so weak. My doctor says it's normal, but I'm struggling to keep up with daily tasks. It's a tough road, especially when you're trying to maintain a positive attitude.

I can't believe they don't have a better solution for managing the fatigue. I feel like I'm constantly tired, and it's affecting my daily life.

Agree with the above comment, I was also worried about the rare conditions, but my doctor explained that they can monitor me closely. Also, make sure to report any side effects to the FDA, through the medwatch program.

Just remember that everyone's experience is different. My sister took Mercaptopurine and hardly had any side effects, That being said, it's crucial to communicate openly with your healthcare team about how you're feeling. The more they know, the better they can support you.

I get so tired sometimes that I can barely function, and my doctor doesn't seem to have any advice on how to cope with it. My hunger disappears, and I dread meals. It's frustrating and scary.

That's tough to hear. If you feel comfortable sharing, what does your support system look like? Having loved ones around can make a world of difference.
