I've recently been prescribed Dexamethasone 1.5mg Tablets for a severe allergic reaction. I've heard mixed things about this medication and its side effects. I took Dexamethasone for a severe allergic reaction too, and it was a lifesaver but damn my mood swings were real, i’d spout off at my kids for nothing
I have a friend who took Dexamethasone for a severe skin condition and she reported hair thinning. She thought it was from some shampoo she was using but it was this medication. Just a heads up so you can prep for that.
Are you taking it short-term or long-term? The side effects can really pile up if you're on it for a while. I had to switch to a different medication because of the prolonged use side effects and how my body reacted
I've taken it for asthma and while it helped immensely, I definitely experienced some serious mood changes, weight gain, and hair thinning. Be prepared for those side effects. Your doctor should have you taper off when you can to avoid some of the withdrawal symptoms.
