I was recently diagnosed with chronic hypoparathyroidism and my doctor prescribed Yorvipath 420mcg/1.4mL Inj, 2.8mL. This is a man-made version of parathyroid hormone (PTH), which helps control calcium and phosphate levels in the blood. I've read the side effects list but would love to hear from others who have experienced this treatment. What are the common side effects? Are there any tips for managing them? How has it improved your condition? I am a bit nervous about the potential for severe side effects but hope to hear encouraging experiences from others. Thanks!

I had some major side effects including some swelling, so I started looking at online tests just to see what they were all about and it turns out that the swelling was unusual for this drug. Turns out I had an allergic reaction, so be vigilant and look for signs. I ended up switching to another medication but hopefully that's not the case for everyone.

I've been on Yorvipath for about 6 months now. The injection is pretty easy to do yourself once you get the hang of it. I did get a bit of swelling, but it went down quickly. This stuff really helps with the fatigue I was experiencing.

Be careful when giving yourself injections to avoid bruising or irritation. Rotate injection sites and apply pressure for a few minutes afterward.

I experienced some dizziness and bone pain. It's a bit concerning but my doctor said it can happen and so far it's been manageable but I will definitely be discussing it at my next appointment.

Yorvipath is now my weekly shot. It's weird injecting it once a week but it only takes a moment and it's not all that bad. I had to work through the redness & bruising, but I've got a good routine going now. It's weird, I know it's working because I feel better.

I was really worried about the risk of bone cancer mentioned in the side effects, but my doctor assured me that the risk in humans is very low. It's still something to keep in mind, though. I recommend checking with your doctor to see if this is the best treatment option for you.

Anyone else get a headache? I've had mild ones but it's concerning that I've not had them before.

Whenever I get a new prescription, I always report my side effects to the FDA. It's a small thing, but it helps others in the future. You can do it online at the link provided in the original post.

I had some muscle cramps and tingling at first, but my doctor adjusted the dose, and those symptoms went away. It's definitely worth sticking with it if you're struggling with low calcium levels.

I've been using Yorvipath for a few months now, and it's been a game-changer. My calcium levels are much better controlled, and I haven't had any major side effects. Just some minor bruising at the injection site.
